Blue Vervain

A common mid-late summer flower along open fields and ditches; common near creeks. Thin, branched spikes of indigo-purple. Blooms as a ring from the bottom of the spike to the top. Leaves are toothed, lance-shaped on a tall plant. More lance-shaped leaves than cousin White Vervain.
