Myrtle
Periwinkle
A common creeping vine is open spaces and under trees. Blue, 5-petal flowers in spring to early summer. Oval, glossly, evergreen, paried leaves on a low creeping, smooth vine.
Though native, used in gardens. Formally, highway departments spread seeds as ground cover, but now tend to use grass and vetches. Usually can ID old roads by the Myrtle growing along the sides.
