May Apple

A common spring flower that's easy to identify. Its has a simple form of always two umbrella-like leaves, with a single flower in the crotch. Found in woods of all sorts, usually in large patches where the inter-locking leaves of adjacent plants shade-out all competition. A favorite of kids becuase of its consistent form and niffty umbrella leaves. The single, large flower produces a large "green apple" seed, hence the name.
