Zig-Zag Goldenrod
A very common early goldenrod in woods, usually a dominant understory flower during the fall season. Blooms late August until frost. Large, showy flowers (can see "petals") appear at axils and terminal cluster. Large, coarsely toothed leaves. Thick stem zig-zags from leaf-joint to leaf-joint. Zig-Zag Goldenrod is one of the two common goldrods found in woods, the other being Blue-Stemmed Goldrod
