Wild Cucumber

A common climbing vine crowding over plants and trees, especially near streams. The 6-petal, star-shaped flowers on a short spike. The large (1-2"), hollow-ish, seedpods with soft spines are unique and large, roughly the shape of a kiwi fruit. The husk of the pods endures most the winter - rustling in the wind. The four flat seeds in each pod are uniquely stripped brown and black; which I used for trinkets as a kid.
