Chicory

A common flower found in open, dry places and roadsides - often in extreme dryness. Sky-blue (and paler) multi-petal circles on green stems. Darker blue stamens. Have stem-clasping, thick, leaves on lower stems/base with a heavily cut, dandelion-toothed shape - but the tooths alternate. In many hot-open-dry places, no leaves at all - just the green stems. Flowers open and close during day.
