Foxglove Beardtongue
Blooms along roadsides and fields in mid-June. White, necked flowers with two black stamens in throat. Stamens coil around in throat. Tall field-plant growth, typically symetric. Thick, dark-green, paired leaves - typically with a little waviness.
Many varieties - field and woods - as well as ornamentally grown types. For Beardstongues, i typically look for the trident-like fork in the terminal spike, where two axial flower spikes, and the terminal spike, form a flat 3-pronged fork.
