Spring Beauty

A common very early spring flower that tends to carpet the ground in forests. Small (1/4-1/2"), white flowers with pink stripes - some flowers pinker, some whiter. Paired, narrow or lanceolate (spear-shaped) leaves on somewhat running stems - creeping out of the leaf litter.

A spring favorite, this delicate spring plant blooms early and prolifically. Often braves many frosts - closing at night and opening in sun.
