A common escaped garden plant found is ditches and fields. Fine sprays of white flowers appear in late August. Plants are very characteristically bambu, hollow segemented stems that grow quickly to 8-10'. Grow in large patches that dominate all other plants. Winter snows flatten patches to bare ground.
