Views from Needles

The Needles is one of the better short hikes with a really great view. "The Needles" or "West Danby Overlook" (~1720' in altitude) which looks down on Rt.96 valley (~950') at West Danby. The westward view looks directly across to Beech Hill in West Danby; overlooks the Shaffer Rd. area in Newfield; and onwards to Connecticut Hill in the north-west.

This view-point is directly on Abbott's Loop and is a quick 200' climb from Bald Hill Rd (hike west on abandoned road just south of cemetary on seasonal part of Bald Hill Rd.).
